Why we train on clay

/ Author: Chris Osborne

Ace Tennis Camps, chooses clay courts for our camps because of some of the unique features of the playing surface.

Ace Tennis Camps prefers to train on a clay tennis court for several reasons:

  1. Improved footwork: Clay courts are softer than other surfaces, which requires players to move differently and more quickly to get to the ball. This can help players develop better footwork, agility, and balance.
  2. Longer rallies: Clay courts tend to slow the pace of the game down, making it more difficult for players to hit winners. This often results in longer rallies, which can help players develop their endurance and patience.
  3. Better shot selection: Due to the slower pace of the game on clay courts, players need to be more strategic in their shot selection. This can help players develop their tactical skills and improve their ability to construct points.
  4. Injury prevention: Clay courts are softer and provide more cushioning than other surfaces, which can help reduce the risk of injury to players' joints and muscles.

Overall, training on a clay court can provide a unique set of challenges that can help players improve their skills and develop their game. However, it's important for players to train on a variety of surfaces to become well-rounded and adaptable to different playing conditions.

Ace Tennis Camps also provided players the chance to practice their skills on hard courts and grass during special events held at the camps.

Join us this summer for an amazing tennis experience.
